POST-NATAL RECOVERY - DO YOU HAVE A PLAN?

Postnatal planning sessions - $80 in person or online.

Just as it takes time to prepare the fertile ground for pregnancy, and time to grow your special new best friend, it takes time to recover and readjust once your baby is born. Often mothers to be spend a lot of time preparing for the baby's arrival but perhaps not as much as they should in preparing for their postpartum recovery.

It is said that the way a mama rests in the first 40 days after birth will determine her health for the next 40 years so it really is worthwile to make a plan!

Chaitanya is able to help you plan your postpartum period so that you can get all the rest, nourishment and bonding you need.

Post-natally mothers and babies are very open energetically - so sensitive and easily disturbed. It is important to take all care in bringing the mummy back together and nourishing the mother - baby bond. Practices that support this recovery are found in every ancient culture on the planet - it is well understood that this is a delicate time and that mama baby need special support at this time. Of course the new father is tired and integrating the big change that has happened - as are other family members. Practices like DEEP REST are deeply beneficial at this time.

As soon as the first few days, the mother can start working (so) gently with yoga to help the body come back together - starting just with breathwork and gentle pelvic floor work, moving in the direction of the natural healing process. As time progresses the mother can incorporate gentle post natal yoga practices to help with moving in that healing direction as well as recovering from the strains that pregnancy puts on the body.

Mandeep (pictured here with baby Robbie)  was cared for by Chaitanya with regular hot oil massage after her second birth . Her mother also came from India to cook her special easy to digest meals and to take care of her home and her eldest daughter while she recovered.

It is wise to follow the lead of all the old cultures and plan for an extended period of rest and recovery after birth.

Although you may feel a bust of energy in the early postpartum, this should really be spent onmaking milk, feeding and bonding with your baby and resting/healing from the birth. To make this a reality, you may want to arrange some extra support for you and your family during this time. Post partum doulas are available that can help you with your household duties, take care of older children and prepare nutritious meals. You can also arrange your friends to give you support in ways that are simple for them to offer and you to recieve.

The digestive fire is very low after birthing, so foods that are warm and easily digested like soups, kitcharee and rice porridge are good options. Chaitanya is able to talk to you about preparing foods that are going to help you heal rather than put a heavy load on your delicate system at this time.

If you're expecting a new baba, please consider a postapartum planning session to learn how to get the most out of your postpartum by doing the abolute minimum!

As birth has a huge impact on mama and baby you probably require some support in healing at this time!

Chaitanya is able to assist in healing the impact the birth has had on your body and psyche, as well as helping you to connect deeply to the flow of energy that connects you and your new baby. This flow is often disrupted partially in the birth process, if things didnt go too smoothly, if there were interventions or if you felt like giving up at any time in the labor.

Often women do not identify their births as being particularly traumatic, yet the impact of the pregnancy and birth is still held in the body. Working with Chaitanya to help release places of holding and reestablish strength and response in the pelvic floor and abdomen help resolve subtle trauma and reestablish a great connection with the energy of the birth and your baby.

Gentle healing sessions can start early in the postpartum and are very gentle -helping to reestablish the natural flows of energy and wellbeing in the body and whole woman.

HEALING AFTER BIRTH AND C-SECTIONS

Talk to Chaitanya about Healing after your birth, regardless of how long ago your birth was.

Chaitanya is trained in the practices of Holistic Pelvic Care by renown pelvic healer Tami Lynn Kent. These practices are wonderful for post natal healing and recovering your own sacred ground after birth. They may involve internal (vaginal) assesment and healing, guided practices and breathing exercises to help you release any trauma from the birth and access your own powerful healing medicine - for you, your new baby and your whole family. She is also a trained Holistic Pre and Postnatal Healer (training with Lynn Schulte from the Institute of Birth Healing) and is able to gently assess the pelvic bones, organs, fascia and muscles which are commonly holding tension after birth and help them come back into balance with gentle, holistic bodywork.

HEALING FROM C_SECTION, EPISITOMY SCARS AND TEARS

If you delivered your baby via a c-section or had a tear or episiotomy there is additional reasons to work with a healer in your recovery.

Scars from simple or major operations

Due to the way that scars of any kind restrict movement, and adhere to surrounding tissues, they can cause painful problems in the short and long term after birth. Luckily it is easy to learn how to look after your scars and stay on a healing trajectory. This may be pain with sex - either with entry or thrusting, pain with defecation or pain in the lower back. Years after (15+) c-section birth, women can experience back pain and incontinence due to scar tissue adhesions which can resolve with scar tissue massage! But as always its better to be proactive by looking after your scar as it heals, having some treatment to help it resolve and learning how to massage it yourself - which is part of a long term wellbeing plan for belly birthing mamas.

The same applies with scarring on the perineum / vagina and anus. Women really do benefit from scar tissue work in this sensitive area to maximise the effectiveness of recovery and minimise the chances of ongoing pain and health problems.

Chaitanya is able to help you with healing your scars so that they dont create troubles for you now and in the future. Healing your scars can help lessen the chances of absence of feeling, back pain, pain in the abdomen, pain with sex and other common post birth complaints. It is very important not to ignore this aspect of healing. If you have scars from tearing in your perineum, talk to Chaitanya about internal pelvic healing and how you can work with massage at home to help the healing progress.

Whether your baby was birthed through your belly or your vagina you would benefit from some internal healing from a skilled pelvic therapist. Chaitanya is trained in internal healing practices of Holistic Pelvic Care by Pelvic PT Tami Lynn Kent and Lynn Schulte of the Institute for Birth Healing and is able to help new mums recover their body and emotions after all kinds of birth experiences. She offers these services in the Coffs Harbour - Bellingen region.
Some of the practices are sharable in online sessions, so speak to Chaitanya if you are further afield and need some help recovering from a traumatic or difficult birth experience.
